Strictly speaking, "digital" exists only in mathematics as a binary number system. In technical reality, there are no purely digital signals. To identify zeros and ones, electrical voltage thresholds and time windows are defined. When switching from zero to one or vice versa, the signal passes through all intermediate values ā for example, from 0 volts to 5 volts.
